Privacy policy

What we collect when you use this site, why, who else handles it, and how to have it changed or deleted.

Who we are

Local Territory is a trading name of Cornerstone Marketing Group Ltd, 86-90 Paul Street, London EC2A 4NE. We decide how the personal information described here is used, which makes us its controller under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).

Questions about this policy, or about your information: contact@localterritory.com or +44 (0)330 043 2233.

When you send us an enquiry

The discovery call form, the quiz and the short call-back form inside our chat assistant ask for details such as your name, business, email address, phone number, website and message. They reach us by email through Web3Forms, a form delivery service.

We use them to reply, to arrange and hold the call, and for any work that follows. The lawful basis is taking steps at your request before a contract, and our legitimate interest in answering enquiries. We keep enquiries for as long as we need them for that, and client records for as long as tax and company law require.

Frankie, our chat assistant

Frankie answers questions about our services. What you type is sent to Anthropic, whose AI writes the reply. If voice replies are on, the reply is sent to ElevenLabs to be turned into speech. Please do not put confidential or sensitive information into the chat.

If you tap the microphone, your browser records what you say while you are speaking. Each recording is sent to ElevenLabs, which writes it out as text, and the text goes to Anthropic like a typed message. We do not keep the recordings. While you talk, your browser's own speech recognition may also run to show your words as you say them; in Google Chrome that sends the sound to Google, in Safari to Apple.

To stop the assistant being misused, we use your IP address to limit how much it can be used in a short time. To choose an American or a British voice, we use the country your IP address points to. Neither is stored.

We keep a record of each conversation for up to two years: what you asked, what the assistant replied, the page you were on, the time, your approximate location (country and city) and the type of device and browser you used. We do not store your IP address with it. Instead we keep a one-way code (a hash) made from it, which only lets us tell that two conversations came from the same visitor. We read these records to see what people want to know, to improve the answers and to follow up if you ask us to. The lawful basis is our legitimate interests. Conversations are not used to build a profile of you and are not linked to your identity unless you give us your contact details.

If you follow a link from the chat to our discovery call form, the message box starts with a summary of your chat, which you can edit or delete before sending. That summary is held in your browser's session storage, which is cleared when you close the tab.

Visiting the site

This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising tracking.

Our host, Vercel, keeps request logs, including IP addresses, to run the site and keep it secure. Pages load their fonts from Google Fonts and some images from Unsplash, so those services receive your IP address when you open a page.

Who else handles it

Only the services named above: Web3Forms, Anthropic, ElevenLabs, Vercel, Google and Unsplash. They act on our behalf and only for the purposes described. We do not sell your information or share it for anyone else's marketing.

Some of them process information outside the UK, including in the United States. Where they do, we rely on the protections UK data protection law requires for international transfers, such as the UK-US data bridge or the UK's approved contract clauses.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it, delete it, limit how we use it or send it to you or someone else in a usable format. You can also object to our using it on the basis of legitimate interests. Write to contact@localterritory.com and we will reply within a month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. We would appreciate the chance to put it right first.

Changes

When what we do with personal information changes, this page changes with it, and the date at the top moves on.
